In your opinion does hyperuricemia cause the symptoms of metabolic syndrome or does having metabolic syndrome cause hyperuricemia? Does it also follow that if the former is the case then alluprinol would in effect &quot;cure&quot; metabolic syndrome, and if the latter is the case then diet and exercise would &quot;cure&quot; hyperuricemia, thereby negating he requirement for alluprinol?

What are your thoughts?
